Generate a PDF in Make with an HTTP module
Make can generate a one-page PDF by calling an API from its HTTP "Make a request" module. PostImager takes your fields as JSON, fills a fixed template and returns a download link. We have documented these settings but have not run them in Make, so test with one item first. The same request has been run in n8n.
Settings for the HTTP module
- Method POST, URL https://postimager.com/v1/renders?wait=60.
- Headers: Authorization set to Bearer followed by your API key, and Idempotency-Key mapped to a field that is unique per item.
- Body type Raw, content type JSON. Name the template, set format to pdf, and map your fields into variables.
- Turn on Parse response and use output.download.url. If status is still queued, add a Sleep and a GET on the render.
- Set the module timeout to at least 90 seconds.
- Stop on 429 quota_exceeded rather than retrying.
What the PDF is
One page, from one of five fixed templates. There are no multi-page documents, no customer HTML and no custom layouts. If you need invoices or long reports, use a tool built for those.
What free covers
The beta gives each account 50 renders a month with no card. Every PDF counts as one render. Download links last 24 hours and the file is kept for 7 days, so save it in your scenario if you need it longer.
Common questions
- Has this been tested in Make?
- No. The settings are documented, and the same API call has been run in n8n and directly. If something differs in Make, tell us at support@postimager.com.
- Is there a PostImager app in Make?
- No. It uses the HTTP module that ships with Make.
- Can it convert HTML to PDF?
- No. It fills fixed templates with your fields, and does not accept your HTML.
